Millet Chocolate Soda Cake Kit Instructions

This recipe makes one 6 inch round cake

Tools needed

  • Whisk
  • Silicon spatula
  • Silicon brush
  • 6 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Thick bottom pan
  • Measuring scale or measuring cups & spoons

Shopping list

  • 1 cup (227g) yogurt
  • 8-10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • 150ml whole milk
  • 1 tbsp oil (to grease the pan)

Here’s all the ingredients you will need

Cake

Package has:
  • Parchment paper
  • Cake flour mix
  • Jaggery & coffee powder
  • Soda beverage (you will need 3 tbsp)
  • Baking soda
You will need:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (227g) yogurt, room temperature
  • 7 tbsp (98gm) unsalted butter, melted & warm (not hot)
Instructions

1. In a bowl add the yogurt and sprinkle baking soda over it and set it aside to foam up, about 10mins. Mix the two together to enhance the reaction.

2. Preheat the oven to 355F and grease a 6inch baking pan with oil on its sides and bottom, line the bottom with parchment paper additionally.

3. In a separate bowl, add melted butter and jaggery & coffee powder. Whisk it well and then add the vanilla extract, foamed yogurt and 3 tbsp of soda beverage. Mix again till you get a smooth mixture.

4. Now, add in the cake flour mix and gently get the batter together using the spatula. Do not over mix at this stage, stop when no flour pockets are visible.

5. Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean (some crumbs attached to the skewer are ok).

Chocolate sauce

Package has:
  • Sauce dry mix
  • Flaky salt (optional garnish)
You will need:
  • 150ml whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5tbsp (22gm) unsalted butter
Instructions

1. Heat milk and butter in a thick bottom pan over a medium flame. Keep whisking to mix well.

2. Add in the sauce dry mix and whisk again. Keep scratching the sides and bottom of your pan using your whisk to avoid flour from getting stuck and forming lumps.

3. Let the mixture boil for 1 minute before taking it off the heat. Finally, mix in vanilla extract

Assembly

Wait for both, the sauce and the cake to cool down before drizzling chocolate sauce over the cake and sprinkle flaky salt over it, if using! You could also garnish with some chopped almonds/cashews/walnuts! You could also warm the cake for 5-10seconds in microwave for a different experience!
