Misri [MISR-ee]
Origin: Hindi (India)
Rock sugar crystal, often used in Indian cuisine,
ceremonies and even medicine
Used to symbolize sweetness
Once upon a time, in a kitchen filled with the irresistible aroma of spices, I found myself elbow-deep in flour, grinning like a child. Growing up in India, my first baking memory is my mother making a marble cake shaped like a bunny for my 5th birthday, decorated with orange and white buttercream. As my friends gasped in awe, I felt deeply loved and amazed that such magic could be made at home. From then on, baking became my favorite way to connect. My mom and I would crank up our favorite music, roll up our sleeves, and turn ordinary afternoons into celebrations. Little did I know I'd be recreating that magic thousands of miles away, years later.
Fast forward to 2020: life in the US was busy, and my engineering career seemed "on track," but something felt missing. Baking eggless desserts for my husband became a joyful escape. The more I baked, the more I realized I wasn't truly starting from scratch- those afternoons with my mom had secretly taught me so much. Every experiment brought back memories of family, laughter, and curiosity. What started as "just for fun" quickly became my superpower, and my kitchen transformed into a happy laboratory of stories baked into every dessert.
Friends and family couldn't get enough of these unique cakes- imagine Basil Ginger cake with Orange Ginger marmalade and Orange mascarpone cream, yum! Each bake felt like a blend of my past memories with exciting travels and new flavors. A pinch of courage and homesickness sparked something extraordinary. Every recipe tested, flavor tweaked, and mother's advice recalled added up to something bigger than I expected.
But with limits to how much I could bake, an idea emerged: bake-at-home kits! I wanted everyone to experience extraordinary baking at home- no chasing niche ingredients or guessing measurements. Just the fun aspects: mixing, decorating, and sharing memories, without stress. We take care of the details, so you can enjoy the art.
That's how Aunty Misri was born- straight from my heart to your kitchen. Baking here is joyful, playful, and full of adventure- no fancy skills needed, just honest ingredients and vibrant flavors that make you want to dance in your socks. I want every kit to bring you that childhood wonder: "I made this!" and the smiles that follow.
Every box is an invitation- to celebrate traditions, try something new, and make (or maybe mess up!) memories together. Here's to many more cakes, kitchens, and stories shared, one whisk at a time.

The Flavor Dreamers
Hi, I'm Anagha. I moved from India to the USA for my postgraduate program and to become a Hardware engineer. As a child, I was studious but also truly enjoyed classical dancing, singing, various arts and crafts, and baking with my mom at home. Moving away from home distanced me from my hobbies, but the pandemic helped me rediscover the joy in them. Now, I live in Sunnyvale, California, with my dear husband, a sassy Chihuahua-Pomeranian, and a naughty Golden Retriever. I enjoy traveling, painting wall murals, trying new foods, lifting heavy weights, and riding roller coasters.
Hey, I'm Mitali. I moved from India to the Bay Area in 2020- right before the pandemic turned the world upside down. For years, I worked as a project manager, ensuring that financial corporations checked every compliance box. However, outside of work, I've always leaned into the creative side of life. I love traveling, capturing people through portrait photography, making fun dance reels with my husband or friends, and, as a total foodie, exploring new flavors (sometimes in restaurants, sometimes through my own kitchen experiments!). With a little nudge from Aunty Misri, I finally found a way to turn that creative spark into something I get to share professionally.
